Charles City Community School District

The Superintendent shall provide direction for the senior leadership team, serve as chief executive officer for the school board, be charged with the responsibility of implementing district policy, and maintain a focus on the district’s vision, mission, and core values. The Superintendent shall also be responsible for the general administration of the school district, completing formal evaluations of certified staff members, and adhering to the Iowa Standards for School Leaders. (ISSL) This position requires continuous use of independent judgment.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION

Required:

1. Master’s Degree in school administration plus 30 approved graduate hours
2. Iowa Administrative/Superintendent Certification
3. Evaluator Approval
4. Understanding of complex organizational systems
5. Knowledge of Iowa law and school finance, effective schools research, technology and strategic planning related to change and demographics
6. Ability to work well with and motivate all stakeholders to the district
7. Flexible and adaptable to meet daily requirements of position
8. Sensitive in applying sound educational research to meet district needs
9. Willingness to work extended hours as required by the position
10. Valid driver’s license

Desired:

1. Doctorate Degree
2. Multiple years’ experience as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, or other district level leadership
